1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser or device when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device on a repeat visit and to remember certain settings or information.
Alongside classic cookies, we also use similar tracking technologies:
- Local storage — storing data directly in the browser (persists after the browser is closed).
- Session storage — temporary storage of data during a single session (deleted when the tab is closed).
- Pixel tags / web beacons — invisible 1×1 px images used to track actions.
- Fingerprinting — technical identification of a device based on its characteristics. Awentail does not actively use fingerprinting. However, some third-party technologies may use it — in which case this is flagged in the cookie table.
ℹ In this document we use the term “cookies” as a collective label for all of the above technologies, unless stated otherwise.
2. Who we are and which websites this policy applies to
The cookie controller is Digital D&A s.r.o., Company ID: 23691271, Školská 660/3, 110 00 Prague (the “we” or “Awentail”).
This Cookie Policy applies to:
- awentail.com — the marketing website of the Awentail platform.
- app.awentail.com — the Awentail platform application for registered customers.
- The AI assistant Widget — the JavaScript code embedded by Awentail customers on their websites. See Art. 9.
⚠ If you are a visitor of an Awentail customer’s website (not awentail.com), the cookies on that website are managed by the relevant customer as their controller — not by Awentail. Direct any questions about cookies to the operator of that website.
3. Cookie categories by purpose
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are technically necessary for the website and application to function. Without them, basic features such as login, navigation or a secure connection would not be possible.
✓ Necessary cookies do not require your consent — they are stored on the basis of legitimate interest and technical necessity. They cannot be refused without impairing the functionality of the website.
3.2 Functional cookies (Functional / Preference)
These cookies remember your preferences and settings (language, dark/light mode, closed banners), improving the user experience on a repeat visit.
Legal basis: functional cookies may be stored on the basis of legitimate interest or consent, depending on the specific cookie-bar implementation and the requirements of applicable case law. We recommend setting the cookie bar so that these cookies require consent. Retention period: typically 30 days – 1 year.
3.3 Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website — which pages they visit, how long they stay and where they come from. We use this information to improve the platform’s content and performance.
Data is anonymised or pseudonymised — analytics cookies do not track individual users across other websites.
Legal basis: consent. If you do not give consent, we will not store analytics cookies.
3.4 Marketing cookies (Marketing / Targeting)
Marketing cookies track your behaviour across websites and enable relevant advertising or remarketing. Third parties (advertising networks) may use these cookies to build advertising profiles.
Legal basis: consent only. Awentail does not currently actively use these cookies on awentail.com, but they may be present as part of third-party integrations (e.g. LinkedIn Insight Tag for B2B remarketing).
⚠ Marketing cookies are stored only if you give explicit consent via the cookie bar. You can withdraw consent at any time.

6. How to manage your cookie consent

Awentail uses a Consent Management Platform (CMP) enabling granular management of cookie consent. On your first visit to awentail.com, a cookie banner appears where you can:
- Accept all cookies — including analytics and marketing.
- Reject optional cookies — only necessary cookies will be stored.
- Customise settings — enable or disable individual categories.
You can change your settings at any time by clicking the “Cookie settings” link in the website footer.
6.2 Browser settings
Cookies can be managed or deleted directly in your browser settings. Please note that disabling necessary cookies may impair the functionality of the website or application.
| Browser | Cookie settings link |
|---|---|
| Google Chrome | support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647 |
| Mozilla Firefox | support.mozilla.org/kb/enhanced-tracking-protection-firefox-desktop |
| Safari (macOS / iOS) | support.apple.com/guide/safari/manage-cookies-sfri11471 |
| Microsoft Edge | support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/delete-cookies-in-microsoft-edge |
| Opera | help.opera.com/en/latest/web-preferences/#cookies |
6.3 Opt-out with specific providers
Some third-party providers offer their own tools for opting out of tracking:
- Google Analytics — Awentail uses Google Analytics in data-minimisation mode (IP address anonymisation). Opt-out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- LinkedIn — advertising settings at linkedin.com/psettings/advertising
- PostHog — opt-out via the cookie settings at awentail.com
- General EU opt-out for behavioural advertising: www.youronlinechoices.eu (aggregates the opt-out of dozens of ad networks at once)
6.4 Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent given via the cookie bar at any time by clicking “Cookie settings” in the awentail.com footer, by changing your browser settings, or by sending a request to support@awentail.com. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
7. Transfer of cookie data outside the EEA
Some cookie providers based outside the EEA (in particular Google, LinkedIn) may process data collected by cookies outside the EU. These transfers are secured by:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) under Art. 46 GDPR.
- Where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or another mechanism valid at the time of transfer.
A detailed overview of transfers is set out in our Privacy Policy and in the sub-processor list at awentail.com/subprocessors.
8. Cookie retention period
We divide cookies by duration into:
- Session cookies — automatically deleted when the browser is closed or the session ends. We use them for login and form protection.
- Persistent cookies — persist for a set period (see the table in Art. 4). After this period they are automatically deleted.
Consent to optional cookies is valid for a maximum of 12 months, after which it must be renewed. Awentail does not retain data collected by cookies longer than necessary for the given purpose.
9. Cookies of the Awentail AI assistant Widget
The AI assistant Widget that Awentail customers embed on their websites via a script tag may store a limited amount of cookies or local-storage data for the purpose of:
- Maintaining the AI assistant session (session_id) — so the conversation is not interrupted when the page is reloaded.
- Storing widget settings (open/closed state, minimisation) to improve the user experience.
⚠ The Awentail customer, as the operator of the given website, is responsible for informing website visitors about widget cookies and ensuring their consent (where required). Awentail has no control over third-party cookies used on customers’ websites where the AI assistant widget is implemented, or over how customers combine the widget with their own analytics or marketing tools. Awentail does not provide legal advice on customers’ cookie compliance.
